The Bucyrus Preservation Society will partner with the Lincoln Highway Association to celebrate Lincoln Highway’s 100th Anniversary at this year’s Hobo Day slated for Saturday, August 31.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this historic event with the Lincoln Highway Association during our Hobo Day located at the T & OC Railroad Station on Rensselaer Street. Members of the Lincoln Highway Association will be present to provide information and answer questions regarding this momentous occasion. The Bucyrus Historical Society is also sharing memorabilia from the museum,” stated Karen Scott, Chairperson of Hobo Day.
The historic T & OC Railroad Station was adjacent to the Lincoln Highway as it passed through Bucyrus following construction. Once the underpasses were constructed, traffic could no longer view the station from the highway, however fond memories linger about those early bygone days. The Bucyrus Preservation Society has shown diligence in refurbishing the beautiful train station. It will therefore be open during Hobo Days for your viewing pleasure.
Special activities during Hobo Days are varied with attractions for all ages. Auntie Darla, a reader of children’s stories, will have reading sessions for youngsters about the highway and railroad trains. Children attending will be given a small token for their visit. For adults, entertainment includes Lesser Known Poets, Stateline Sinners and Bucyrus’ own Hobo Band performing in the afternoon.
There will be food for lunch or snacks throughout the day during your visit at Hobo Days. A variety of vendors will captivate your interest; whether fine crafts, dried flowers, jewelry, baked goods or other interests. You are invited to attend… Saturday August 31 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM located at 700 E. Rensselaer Street in Bucyrus. Our Boy Scout friends from K of C Troop #101 will provide parking assistance.
