BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)Wombat Solar representatives recently explained their upcoming Crawford County solar project and solar power basics.

Leah and Wes detailed how solar panels, some with tracking systems, convert sunlight to AC electricity for the local grid. They highlighted solar’s consistent energy production and the stable cost of sunlight. Snow on panels typically melts off due to the sun’s heat.

Addressing misconceptions, Leah noted solar projects on farmland are temporary and reversible, offering farmers added income. Wes clarified that generated power stays local.

Wombat Solar aims for up to 400 megawatts, using over 2,500 acres in Bucyrus and Dallas Townships, chosen for transmission access. The project is in the land phase, with construction likely years away.
