BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford County Council on Aging is celebrating Older Americans Month in May with a variety of activities, including a new “Senior Spring Spectacular” event, according to Courtney Moody, who appeared on a recent community spotlight program.
Traditionally held during Senior Day at the Crawford County Fair, the large celebratory event has been moved to May to specifically honor Older Americans Month. The Senior Spring Spectacular will take place on May 22 at the Trillium Event Center. The free event for seniors will feature a complimentary lunch provided by Unger Park, live music from a jam band sponsored by Devoted Health, and interactive game shows with prizes. Attendees will have the chance to participate in “The Price is Right,” sponsored by Trustwell, and a Crawford County-themed “Jeopardy,” sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Door prizes and free coffee from Tim Hortons will also be available.
Moody emphasized that the entire Senior Spring Spectacular is free for seniors, but reservations are required. Interested individuals can call the Council on Aging at 419-562-3050 and speak with Heather to request a ticket and inquire about transportation if needed.
The Council on Aging has a full calendar of other events planned for May. There will be four bingo sessions: the regular Bucyrus bingo on May 29, the regular Crestline bingo on May 20 at VFW Post 2920, and a musical bingo with TV theme songs and movie soundtracks on May 6 (which is currently full with a waitlist). Additionally, a chair exercise bingo and protein shake taste test will be held on National Senior Health and Fitness Day, May 28.
