SANDUSKY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The roar of roller coasters will once again fill the air as Cedar Point, “America’s Roller Coast®,” opens for its 2025 season this Saturday, May 3. While the highly anticipated debut of Siren’s Curse, North America’s tallest, fastest, and longest tilt roller coaster, is slated for later this summer, a beloved icon will be ready for riders on opening day: Top Thrill 2™.

Guests can once again experience the breathtaking heights and speeds of Top Thrill 2™, the world’s tallest and fastest triple-launch roller coaster. The ride propels guests to 74 mph on its initial launch using a high-tech linear synchronous motor (LSM) system, sending them soaring up the 420-foot-tall “top hat” tower. After a moment of weightlessness during the signature “rollback,” the train reverses for its second launch, reaching a world-record reverse speed of 101 mph up a second 420-foot-tall vertical track. A final launch sends riders forward at the ride’s top speed of 120 mph, culminating in a 270-degree spiral before returning to the station. Riders must be at least 52 inches tall to ride Top Thrill 2™.

While Siren’s Curse won’t be ready for opening day, anticipation is building for its debut. This record-breaking tilt coaster will lift riders 160 feet in the air on a former shipping crane tower, complete with chilling siren melodies. The ride’s signature moment involves a pause on a “broken off” section of track, where the train tilts 90 degrees vertically before plunging down 2,966 feet of track at a top speed of 58 mph. Siren’s Curse will feature 13 airtime moments, two 360-degree barrel rolls, and a high-speed “triple-down” element. The ride’s two 24-passenger trains will also include integrated audio and LED lighting. Guests must be at least 48 inches tall to ride Siren’s Curse, with an opening date to be announced later.
In other park news, the popular Happy Friar fresh-cut fries location on the Gemini Midway has been upgraded with a new façade and an indoor serving line for faster service.
Cedar Point’s live entertainment lineup is also packed with new and returning favorites, including the “Bands in Residence” series, “Class of ’99 – Yearbook,” “Rock This Way,” “The Wild Mice,” “Country Crossroads Live at the Palace,” and “Lusty Lil’s Western Roadshow.” Guests can find a full schedule on the Cedar Point mobile app.

Additionally, Famous Dave’s® Restaurant will be opening in a new year-round location at the Castaway Bay Indoor Waterpark Resort in the coming weeks, offering its award-winning BBQ for in-restaurant dining and local catering.
“It’s been a long winter, but the entire Cedar Point team is ready to once again welcome guests as we continue our tradition of delivering amazing thrills, experiences and memories on Lake Erie,” said Colleen Murphy-Brady, Cedar Point’s vice president of park operations. “With Top Thrill 2, the new record-breaking Siren’s Curse opening this summer, a spectacular special event lineup and the many other improvements to the park, our guests will have so much to look forward to – we can’t wait to see them here again!”
