The old adage, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch,” will not apply to students in the Crestline school district.
The district announced on Monday of this week that all students regardless of family income are eligible for both a free lunch and breakfast every school day. This is for students in grades preK-12.
District Food Service Director Kerri Wilhite explained the district had been approved for the Community Eligible Option which was new to Ohio last year. Students must accept three components of each meal in order to take part in the program. Items will still be sold a la carte to those not wanting the free meal.
Information about the new program will be available at the district open house on Aug. 20. More on this story is available in the latest edition of the Crestline Advocate.
