In order to commend Galion students for their hard work and academic achievements throughout the 2014-2015 school year, the High School will host its annual Academic Awards program Thursday, May 7. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Galion High School cafetorium.
Galion High School students earning a 3.5 or above during the 2014-2015 school year will be recognized for their hard work in the area of academics. The guest speaker for the evening will be retired Galion High School English and Speech teacher and Galion alumnus, Dave Spraw. This portion of the evening’s schedule is open to the public.
Prior to the high school awards ceremony, the Galion Community Foundation will host its annual Scholarship Awards program. This is an invitation-only event for Galion seniors receiving Foundation scholarships and their families that will be held from 6-6:45 p.m. in the Galion High School Music Room. A total of 15 Galion High School seniors will be receiving 16 scholarships totaling more than $29,000.
“This is a very special night for our students, their families and staff,” Galion City School District Superintendent Mark Stefanik said. “This is just the beginning of the scholarship awards season for our seniors, and I am excited to see our students receiving financial support for their future academic endeavors. On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to thank the Galion Community Foundation for their continued support of academic excellence in the Galion City School District.”
