MOUNT GILEAD—The 173rd Morrow County Fair is set to kick off with a multitude of events, showcasing the best of the region’s agriculture, livestock, and entertainment. From August 28 to September 4, fairgoers can immerse themselves in a variety of activities, competitions, and shows.
Here’s a schedule of events that attendees can look forward to:
Monday – Aug 28
It’s Morrow County Commissioners Day, the fair begins with a flurry of activities, including animal move-ins, exhibitor check-ins, and various judging events. FFA Crop & Vegetable Judging, FFA Shop Projects Check-In, and Horse & Pony Body Scoring are among the highlights of the day. Today’s entertainment features Harness Racing and Farm Product Judging.
Tuesday – Aug 29
It’s Tidy Tims Day and Senior Citizens & Veterans Day, attendees aged 62 and above, as well as veterans, can enjoy free entry. The day is packed with activities such as Grand Entry, King and queen Presentation, and various animal shows, including Market Swine BBR/Breeding Show and Rabbit Showmanship. The evening includes musical performances by Michael Rose (Elvis) and comedian Steve Sabro on the small stage and Figure 8 Races in the Grandstand.
Wednesday – Aug 30
Blackstone Insurance Agency & Goodville Mutual Casualty Co Day is marked by a range of events, including Open Breeding Swine Show, Open Sheep Show, and various horse contests. The evening features Ground Roping and a thrilling Rodeo – Bulls & Barrels Show.
Thursday – Aug 31
Adena Corporation Day highlights Dairy Goat Show, Sheep Breeding Show, and a variety of exhibits. The day is marked by the Food Fun Day, Lamb BBQ, and entertaining competitions such as the Hot Dog Eating Contest, Outhouse Races, and Rough Truck at the Grandstand.
Friday – Sept 1
Open Road Renewables Day features contests like Barnyard Olympics and the Adult Steer Showmanship. Visitors can also enjoy the Central OH & Buckeye Truck Pulls and karaoke with Native Karaoke in the Beer Garden.
Saturday – Sept 2
Burkhart Farm Center Day offers a range of attractions, including the Market/Meat Breeding Goat Showmanship, Jr/Sr Dairy Cattle Show, and Pie & Cake Auction. The evening is filled with music, a Tractor Parade, the popular Antique Tractor Parade, and the OSTPA Truck & Tractor Pull.
Sunday – Sept 3
It’s Cardington Yutaka Day, the fair’s Sunday lineup includes a church service, Scout Activities, and the High School Band Show. Attendees can also participate in workshops, such as the Groovy Plants Ranch Workshop, the Paint & Sip event, and Motocross at the Grandstand.
Monday – Sept 4
On Farm Credit Mid-America & Rural 1st Day, the fair concludes with the Champion Project Awards, Large and Small Animal Livestock Sales, and a Garden Tractor Pull. The festivities wrap up with the thrilling Open Demolition Derby.
Throughout the fair, the Beer Garden is open daily from 5 pm to 10 pm, offering a place to relax and enjoy beverages with daily entertainment. The Midway, hosting a variety of rides, operates from August 29 to September 4 from 12 pm-10 pm, with adjusted closing times on the last day.
