Orange barrel season is certainly getting underway in Crawford County. The Ohio Department of Transportation announced a new construction project set to begin Monday and updated current projects ongoing in the county.

Ohio 98 will close Monday, April 20 for the replacement of two culverts in Auburn Township. The first closure will be at the intersection of Ohio 98 and Baker Road, which will also close Baker Road. The second location will be just south of Ohio 598, and that will close upon the reopening of the first culvert.

The detour route for northbound motorists is Ohio 98 to Ohio 39, east on Ohio 39 to Ohio 598, north on Ohio 598 to Ohio 98, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road will reopen May 8.

Ohio 294, just west of Monnett Road in Dallas Township, is closed for railroad crossing repairs. The detour route for eastbound motorists is Ohio 294 to State Route 4, north on Ohio 4 to West Beal Avenue, east on West Beal Avenue to Ohio 98, south on Ohio 98 to Ohio 294, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen April 22.

Scott Road (Township Road 50), between Ohio 103 and Lauden Road, is closed for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for eastbound motorists is Scott Road to Ohio 103, south on Ohio 103 to Kenestrick Road, east on Kenestric Road to Lauden Road, north on Lauden Road to Scott Road, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen May 28.
