Gamers of a different breed took over the MB Subculture store in Bucyrus on Saturday to participate in the third annual Table Top Game Day.
With games such as Settlers of Catan, Battle Wizards, and Zombiecide gamers went old school by playing games that didn’t require the use of a television or computer. While Table Top Game Day is in its third year, this was the first year that MB Subculture participated. MB Subculture’s Matt Feck explained why the store took part in the day of games.
“A customer came in and suggested that we check it out, and I did. Wil Wheaton from Star Trek the Next Generation, he’s in charge of Table Top Day, and he promotes games. So we checked it out through our distributer, got more information, and decided we would be a perfect place to host it.”
“We wanted to get more involved in table top games, and gaming in general for customers because they seem to express a large interest in it,” Feck continued.
Dylan Harper and Levi Vermillion had just finished a game of Battle Wizards and they explained what makes the game enjoyable.
“It’s fun. It’s basically like the game cards against humanity, it is fun running around saying spells,” Vermillion said.
“You have to knock out the other wizards pretty much,” Harper added.
Vermillion also added his favorite aspect of the game was the names of the wizards when playing, as well as the competition between friends.
While International Table Top Game Day happens only once a year, MB Subculture hosts weekly game tournaments.
