GALION—Galion Community Theatre is ready to make a splash with its latest production as it delves into the depths of Bikini Bottom. The highly anticipated show, “The SpongeBob Musical,” will debut on Friday, June 16th, at the theater. Offering a vibrant, lively, and hilarious experience, this musical promises enjoyment for the entire family.

Tony Baer, the director of the production, expressed his excitement about the show, stating, “This musical is a great time for anyone who enjoys good, chaotic fun. Our cast has put in tremendous effort to ensure that we deliver a performance that captures the essence of the beloved animated series. It’s a show for kids, millennials who grew up with SpongeBob, grandparents who had cable in the late 90s, and anyone who appreciates fantastic music. Amidst its goofy and energetic nature, the musical also conveys a meaningful message about unity and the strength found in embracing differences.”

“The SpongeBob Musical” encapsulates the spirit of friendship and optimism as the familiar characters we all know and love face the threat of losing their home, Bikini Bottom. This dynamic production features an array of songs penned by acclaimed pop/rock artists, including David Bowie, Sarah Barreilles, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, and more!

Galion Dental Partners and the Galion City Health Department have lent their support to “The SpongeBob Musical,” and additional assistance has been provided by The Galion Community Foundation. The Robert & Esther Black Family Fund, through the Richland County Foundation, has also made contributions. Furthermore, the Ohio Arts Council (OAC), an agency that funds and promotes quality arts experiences to enrich Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically, has allocated state tax dollars to make this production possible.

It’s important to note that Galion Community Theatre has adjusted the start time for evening performances this theatrical season, with shows now commencing at 7:30 PM. The show dates for “The SpongeBob Musical” are June 16, 17, 23, and 24 at 7:30 PM, with an additional matinee on June 25 at 2:00 PM.
