BUCYRUS—The community is invited to come out to the Crawford County Fairgrounds for a horse matinee.
Although Sunday’s races are not to be wagered on and do not race for any money, races are mostly for 2-year-olds getting ready for this racing season.
It’s a good chance to preview the horses set to begin racing around the beginning of July.
Sunday’s races will be called by race announcer Ayers Ratliff of Marion.
Ratliff called his first race at the Marion County Fair in 1998.
He served as the track announcer at Scioto Downs from 2005 to 2007.
He was recently the track announcer at MGM Northfield Park from 2007 to the end of last year.
While at Northfield, Ratliff was the announcer for the Thistle Downs Racetrack near Cleveland for five years and at the track formerly known as Raceway Park for one year in Toledo. Ratliff also called races at the track formerly known as Hazel Park in Detroit, Michigan.
The Grandstand admission is free and opens at 10 AM, where racing programs will be on sale.
The races begin at 11 AM.
There will be a 50/50 drawing and a food truck on the backstretch. There is also a flea market scheduled at the fairgrounds that day.
