Galion opened the high school diamond season by white washing Plymouth on Monday. The Tigers pick up the win in just five innings by the score of 11-0.

The Tigers banged out 16 hits while allowing Plymouth just three. Getting the pitching decision for Galion was senior Chad Karnes who fanned four and walked four.

Leading the hit parade for the Tigers were Lybarger and Kuns who had three hits each. Castline, Karnes, Lybarger and Nickell all had doubles.

At Monroeville, Buckeye Central couldn’t make an early lead stand up as the Bucks opened their season with a 3-2 loss to the home team Eagles.

Monroeville fought back from a 2-0 deficit with a single run in the fourth and two in the bottom of the sixth to win it.

Payton Phenecie was the starter and took the loss for the Bucks. He struck out five and walked one while giving up five hits.

The Bucks failed to register a hit against Monroeville pitching but were able to make the most of two Monroeville errors and four walks. Phenicie had an RBI while Cody Roberts, Tanner Zaebst and Josh Dentinger each had a stolen base.

In other baseball scores from the area it was: South Central 12, Bucyrus 9; Carey 6, Riverdale 2; Kenton 7, Upper Sandusky 5; Wynford 10, St. Peter’s 0.

Softball scores included Buckeye Central 7, Monroeville 5; Madison 11, Bucyrus 2; Riverdale 3, Carey 1; Upper Sandusky 3, Kenton 2.
