The Galion High School Performing Arts department will present its performance of “The Leader of the Pack”, The Elle Greenwich Story, March 27, 28 and 29. All performances will take place at the uptown Galion Community Theater.
The show is a biography about Elle Greenwich and her rise to fame as a songwriter and producer in the 1960s. Greenwich and husband Jeff Barry wrote memorable songs such as “Going to the Chapel,” “Hanky Panky,” “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “The Leader of the Pack.”
“The show is full of great songs we all remember,” GHS teacher and director Cheri Laughbaum said. “All shows at Galion High School are run by students. Actors, lighting, sound, backstage, and the assistant directors are all current high school students, and they all have worked hard to prepare for this performance.”
Show times are 7 p.m. March 27 and 28, and 2 p.m. March 29. Tickets are $8 each and can be reserved for any show date by calling Amy Jarvis at 419-563-5805. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. March 27 and 28, and reopen at 1:15 p.m. for the show March 29.
“I am proud of Mrs. Laughbaum and the high school students involved in this production,” Superintendent Mark Stefanik said. “Show after show, the Performing Arts Department does an outstanding job preparing our students for their performances. I know this spring’s show will be another quality event.”
