GALION—Theater enthusiasts and foodies alike are in for a treat this weekend, as the Galion Community Theatre (GCT) pays tribute to one of the most celebrated musical composers of the 20th century, Stephen Sondheim. The tribute, titled “GCT’s Sondheim Tribute Revue,” will feature the music and lyrics of Sondheim, performed by an exceptionally talented cast of performers.

According to Benjamin Lowery, the director, and performer of the show, “We are thrilled and excited to be bringing the beautiful words and music of Stephen Sondheim to our community. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the life and memory of one of the theater’s greatest contributors.”

The show will take place on Saturday, April 22nd, at 7:30 PM and Sunday, April 23rd, at 2:00 PM. However, the festivities do not end there. GCT has also partnered with Bistro 217, a local eatery, to offer a brunch at the theater before the Sunday matinee. The menu includes delectable options such as french toast shots, fruit and donut skewers, ham and cheese quiche, strawberry and greens salad, bacon-wrapped asparagus, and baked parmesan hash browns. Coffee will be provided by Three Bean Coffee House.

Tickets for both the performances and the brunch are available for purchase now on GCT’s website or by leaving a message at 419-468-2662. The ticket price for the performances is $10, while the brunch is priced at $20.

Sondheim, who has written several of the most iconic musicals of the 20th century, including “Into The Woods,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “Gypsy,” among others, is a prolific artist whose work has inspired generations of musicians and actors. With the “GCT’s Sondheim Tribute Revue,” the Galion community will have the opportunity to experience the beauty and magic of Sondheim’s music and lyrics firsthand.
