Handel’s “Messiah” will be presented by the Galion Community Chorus and Orchestra on Sunday Dec. 7 at 3pm. The 60th Annual performance will be held at First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West, in Galion.

Under the direction of John Sikora of Ashland, and assisted by harpsichordist Patty Neff of Bucyrus, the concert features local residents and seasoned musicians alike. Among the featured soloists are alto Sandra Ross of the Ohio Light Opera; tenor Derek Jackenheimer, a graduate student from Ashland; baritone Vernon Hartman of the Metropolitan Opera; and soprano Amy Ross of the New York City Opera.

The concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken at intermission to assist in funding the production.

The Galion Community Chorus was formed in 1954 by Herb Krichbaum, and its first performance of “Messiah” was held in the Galion High School auditorium.
