One man got a few hours relief from his stay in prison Wednesday, but was quickly returned with 12 months added to his sentence.
Billy Riddle was sentenced to 12 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to amended burglary charges in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. Riddle is also responsible for restitution of nearly $1,300 to the victim.
Riddle’s sentence is to run consecutively to the prison sentence he is currently serving from a Richland County burglary case. Ironically, it was the filing of the new charges in Crawford County that resulted in Riddle’s probation being revoked in Richland County and being sentenced to prison from that court.
Like his co-defendant the day before, Zachariah Davis was able to avoid prison time in spite of pleading guilty to felony burglary. The 18-year-old Davis pleaded guilty Wednesday to third-degree felony burglary for an Aug. 4 break-in and was sentenced to five years of community control and fined $2,000.
Davis, like co-defendant Mikel Knetter Jr., must also have an alcohol and drug assessment and complete any resulting treatment recommendation and pay more than $1,800 in restitution.
In an unrelated case, Roderick Phillips had an initial hearing on charges he violated his community control. Phillips is alleged by his probation officer to have twice refused drug tests, moving without notifying his probation officer and failing to report to his probation officer. Phillips’ bond was set by Judge Russell Wiseman at $50,000.
