GALION—The Northmor Board of Education held their monthly meeting on Tuesday evening.
The board approved superintendent Chad Redmon’s recommendation for COVID-19 protocols for the upcoming school year. It is being recommended that students wear masks at school and get vaccinated but will not be mandated.
However, in accordance with a federal mandate from the CDC, students must wear masks on the buses. Redmon spoke with the school’s legal counsel and was informed that there is a piece in the law called the U.S. Constitution Supremacy Clause. It establishes that federal law takes precedence over state law, and individuals must comply with the mandate the CDC has set forth.
The school will provide masks for students on the buses.
The school will release the official health and safety guidelines in the upcoming weeks.
The board moved to accept the donation of disposable masks from Donna Carver of Williamsport Grange #1815.
The new school year for Northmor begins on September 8.
The next board meeting is on October 19 at 6 p.m.
