The Bucyrus City Traffic Commission helped to temporarily resolve a few disputes for a couple of Highland Avenue residents Monday afternoon.

Highland Avenue residents Catherina Clayton and Daniel McNulty both expressed concerns about a shared alley. Clayton said a bush that grows alongside McNulty’s home has grown to block the view of the street when a vehicle pulls out from the alley. During the meeting McNulty agreed to trim the bush back to allow for visibility.

McNulty expressed his concerns when Clayton or her husband had parked in the alley, which did not allow McNulty to access his property. McNulty and Clayton both share access to the alley, which is not quite wide enough to allow for parking while also allowing for cars to pass. Clayton agreed to not park in the alley but did request if they alley could be vacated or a cul-de-sac at the dead end.

While Mayor Jeff Reser suggested creating a turnaround at the dead end, administrative assistant Eunice Collene noted that it was not a guarantee because the area would have to be studied.

Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke also suggested adding gravel to extend the width of the road, thus making it wide enough to allow for parking.

The matter was tabled for further review.

The Traffic Commission also discussed the following issues:

• Consideration for making Osman St. a one-way street. The matter is still under review.
• Reviewing traffic map at Heritage Circle to find out if it is a dedicated city street. Koepke made a motion to investigate the status.
• Review the status for curb painting at South Walnut St.
• Concerns about an alley that runs alongside O’Reilly Auto Parts. Cars drive down the alley going 25 mph, causing concern from residents. A motion was made and passed to put up No Outlet signage near E. Mansfield St.
• A complaint was received from a resident on Clay St. The resident requested for Children at Play signs to be put up; however, the city cannot install these signs. A motion was passed to install a caution sign.
• Crosswalks on Sandusky Ave. Reser discussed adjusting the timing at the square to allow for a better traffic flow. The matter will be looked into further.
