CRESTLINE—The Crawford Park District is offering several events in the last two weeks of September for local residents.

Pickin’ Pawpaws on Saturday, September 19 at 2 p.m. at Sears Woods, 1486 Mt. Zion Road

“Pickin’ up pawpaws, puttin’ em in her pocket!” The Crawford Park District invites you to come on a hike with Naturalists Lisa and Chelsea to learn about and search for our largest native fruit… the Pawpaw! Yoga in the Park on Sunday, September 20, at 3 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598

The Crawford Park District invites you to join instructor Kay Smith for an hour of outdoor Yoga with beautiful Lowe-Volk Park as the backdrop.  Moving gracefully from one pose to the next, while focusing on balance and breath, enjoy a full mind-body experience.  Bring your mat and water.  In the event of inclement weather, class will take place in the Nature Center.  Please call the Crawford Park District at 419-683-9000 to reserve a spot.

Canoeing on Sunday, September 20 at 1 p.m. at Neff Reservoir, State Route 98

Join Crawford Park District Naturalists Josh and Lisa for a paddle around the Neff Reservoir. After a lesson on canoeing basics and safety, we will take to the water! You will need to wear shoes that can get wet. Please call the Crawford Park District at 419-683-9000 to reserve a spot.

Monarch Tagging on Monday, September 21at 5:30 p.m. at Unger Park, 1303 Bucyrus-Nevada Road 

Learn about the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly, its need for milkweed plants, and their amazing migration to Mexico. The Crawford Park District will offer program attendees the opportunity to help Kansas University with Monarch migration and population research by attempting to capture, tag, and release Monarch butterflies. Prairie Flora on Tuesday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Salem Cemetery (East of the Parcher & Lower-Leesville Intersection)

Meet Crawford Park District Naturalist Warren Uxley and learn about the threatened and endangered plants of Ohio’s prairies. Examination of prairie plants will take place at the Salem Prairie which has several species that other prairies in Crawford County do not.  Please call the Crawford Park District at 419-683-9000 to reserve a spot.

Toddler Trot: Creekin’ on Thursday, September 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598

Join Crawford Park District Naturalist Josh Dyer and McKinley as they wade and explore the Sandusky River Creeks are great fun to explore! For toddlers, walking in a creek helps develop gross and fine motor skills, along with engaging a child’s natural curiosity. Old tennis shoes are recommended.
