CRESTLINE — The Village of Crestline has a new addition to the Crestline Police Department after the Crestline Village Council meeting Monday evening.
Brooklyn Potter was sworn in as a part-time police officer by Crestline Mayor Joy Miley.
“Brooklyn has done an outstanding job as a dispatcher for our department and we are excited for her transition to officer,” Crestline Police Chief Jeff Shook said.
Village Administrator John Rostash said fall is upon us and that includes fall leaf clean-up for village residents.
“The Crestline Service Department has been busy preparing our equipment for the fall season and will be gathering leaves throughout the fall season,” Rostash said. “Please have your leaves raked to the curb but not into the street.”
Rostash updated council and residents on several ongoing projects in the village, including the water treatment plant and collection system improvement project.
“Prime AE Group will be updating the sewer system model with the information gathered from the survey of 100 manholes within Crestline,” Rostash said.
He also said the bid opening for the Main Street waterline was Oct. 1 and Makeever and Associates is reviewing the bids and will submit a recommendation of selection.
Rostash said the village is gathering information about the current telephone system and soliciting quotes from several providers for an update telephone system.
“We have switched to a new service provider for our online payment option for the utility bill,” Rostash said. “An added feature is the ability to pay a utility bill by telephone.”
He said residents may call 419-688-5270 with their account number to pay their bill.
Rostash thanked Rick and Tracie Beck for their donation of a larger American flag and POW-MIA flag to fly over Seltzer Street.
“This is also a good time to thank the VFW Post 2920 for the generous donations of flags throughout the year,” Rostash said.
An annexation public hearing will occur Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Crawford County Commissioner’s Office for property along U.S. 30 into the village.
Council passed several items, including the transfer of property at 303 N. Seltzer St., a consent agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation to conduct bridge inspections throughout the village, a resolution to allow Rostash to apply for programs to assist in the funding of the Main Street waterline project and a cooperation agreement with several townships and the Crawford County Engineer to draw appropriate warrants from the street funds up to $9,717.30.
The next council meeting is Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Crestline Village Hall.
