GALION — The City of Galion and other area cities have announced free swimming to help area citizens stay cool during a heat warning.

The Heise Park Pool will be open free of charge Friday and Saturday to help beat the heat.

Galion Mayor Tom O’Leary also extended the pool’s hours of operations. Friday’s hours are 1-8 p.m. and the pool will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The pool’s capacity is 450 people.

The East Park Splash Park also will have extended hours. It will be open Friday from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The splash park is always free.

Crestline Mayor Joy Miley also announced the Village of Crestline pool at Kelly Park will be open free of charge Friday noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday during the same time.

New Washington Mayor Ben Lash opened the Buckeye Recreation Pool in New Washington free of charge during regular operating hours. The free entry applies to both Friday and Saturday.

Other area pools also are offering free admission including the City of Upper Sandusky’s Harrison Smith Park Pool and the City of Tiffin’s pool near Hedges-Boyer Park.

Upper Sandusky also has a free splash pad at Bicentennial Park.

The public is reminded to drink plenty of water if they plan to be outside for an extended period of time.
