In a tight defensive battle, Wynford was 8 points better from the free throw line and defeated Col. Crawford 32-26 last night. The Lady Royals scored 12 points from the charity strip while Col. Crawford managed only 4.
After Wynford scored the first basket of the game, Col. Crawford scored the next 12 to lead by 10 after the first period. The Wynford defense held the Lady Eagles to just 2 points in the second period and tied the game at 14 at halftime. The stingy Lady Royals held Col. Crawford to 4 points in the third period on the way to their 8th win of the year against 6 losses and a 7-4 N10 record, Col. Crawford is now 8-6 overall and 6-5 in the league.
Wynford’s Ellie Richmond was the only player from either team to finish in double figures with 12 points, Alexus Burkhart led Col. Crawford with 8.
In the JV contest, Col. Crawford scored the first 16 points of the game on their way to a 41 to 23 win. Abby Teglovic led Col. Crawford with 10 points, Tara Zinser had 7 to lead Wynford.
