While the weather may have been frigid outside, the action at Seneca East came to a boiling point as the Royals and Tigers battled down to the final seconds Friday night.

Wynford trailed the Tigers at the half 32-27, but battled back in the third as they took a 48-43 lead into the final quarter. Clinging to a six point lead with under a minute to go, the Royals’ lead was cut by three on a two-point basket and one foul shot. Two missed foul shots by the Royals gave the Tigers a chance to tie the game up with two seconds to go in the game. The Tigers tossed the ball into play, but a stifling Royals defense forced the difficult buzzer-beater shot by Johnny Diehm, which fell short of its mark as the Royals went onto win 66-63.

Wynford’s Jack Reed led all scorers in the contest with 31 points as the Royals improved to 4-5 on the season and 4-2 in the N10. Zach Hoffman added nine points in Wynford’s victory.

The Tigers were led by Diehm’s 27-point performance along with Alex Forehand contributing 15 points. With the loss the Tigers fall to 6-4 on the season with a 3-4 N10 record.
