The Wynford Royals’ season came to an end Thursday afternoon at the Division III district semifinals at Heidelberg University. The Royals were defeated by Edison 8-1 to finish their season at 15-8.
Wynford scored first in the game with what would be their only run in the third inning. Alex Crall singled and stole second. He came home on a two out single by Gage Roe.
Wynford starter Alex Miller made that run hold up until the fourth inning when Edison’s Austin Utter tied the game with a home run. The Chargers sent 8 hitters to the plate in the fifth when they scored three times, and 8 to the plate in the sixth when they added four runs. Utter went the distance for Edison, striking out 10 and walking two.
Wynford had six hits in the game, all singles, with Roe having a pair, and one each by Brock Williamson, Mason Davis, Austin Shutler, Jalon Brown and Alex Crall.
Edison improves to 20-7 on the year and will play Saturday afternoon at Heidelberg for the district championship.
