Two more N10 conference teams dropped from the girls sectional tournament in Lexington on Wednesday. Both the Wynford Lady Royals and the Lady Redmen of Bucyrus lost their opening round tournament games.  The first game slated the second-seeded Willard Lady Flashes against Bucyrus, the 12th seed. Wynford’s Lady Royals followed with Fostoria in an 11 versus 12 matchup.

The Lady Flashes were in control most of the contest against Bucyrus, carrying a 34 – 16 lead into the break.  Despite a quality half from Bucyrus in which they outscored Willard 25-7, Willard left the gymnasium victorious by a final of 51-41.

Shania Orewiler was the bright spot for Bucyrus as the junior led all scorers with 17 points.  She also tallied a double-double with 12 rebounds.  Isadora Burling added 8 and 8 rebounds for the Lady Redman.  Bucyrus finishes their season with an overall mark of 6-17.

The second game proved similar to the first as the Lady Royals struggled to get anything going on the offensive end, trailing Fostoria at the intermission 19-13.  Fostoria went on to win the sectional semifinal game, 46-31.

Wynford got strong performances from seniors Tara Zinser and Gretchen Harris in their final game on the court.  Zinser was dominant on the boards, pulling in 13 to go along with 8 points. Harris was the leading scorer in the contest, netting 12. Wynford closes out their season with a 4-19 record.

The two winners at Lexington on Wednesday, Fostoria and Willard, will hit the hard wood against each other on Saturday back at Lexington High School for the sectional final.

In other N10 girls tournament playoff action in Division III sectional semi-finals Mohawk defeated Ashland-Crestview 52-42. In Division IV sectional semi-finals Ridgedale defeated Harvest Prep 51-39.

The Galion Lady Tigers’ season came to a close in Willard Wednesday night to the Margaretta Lady Polar Bears 80-24.
