The Wynford Lady Royals scored the first 18 points last night and then held on for a 55-43 win over Buckeye Central.

Trailing by 23 at halftime and by 19 after 3 periods the Buckettes scored 19 points in the fourth period to pull within 10 before Wynford made some late period free throws to make the final margin 12.

Wynford now 9-3 on the year and 6-1 in the North Central Conference was led in scoring by Meghan Harrer with 20 points, teammate Brenna Quinn added 17. Buckeye Central was led by Kilee Kimmel with 17 points, 7 coming in the final period and Brooke Karl with 13 points, 8 in the final frame.

In the JV game, Wynford’s Sara Ogden made a free throw with 3 seconds left to lift the Lady Royals to a 37-36 win. Ogden finished with 11 points and teammate Maci Cooper added 15. For Buckeye Central Haley Green led the way with 12 points.

In other NCC girls action Tuesday night Bucyrus tightened up the NCC race with a 61-56 win over Riverdale behind Macy Sheerer’s 29 points. That leaves Wynford and Riverdale tied for first with 6-1 league marks and Bucyrus just a half-game back at 6-2.

Colonel Crawford defeated Galion by the score of 58-49 and Crestline lost at Upper Sandusky.
