In a rematch from last Friday’s season closing game Bucyrus took on Wynford in Oak Harbor with a slightly different finish Tuesday night.
Behind Dalon King’s 19 points the Bucyrus Redmen overcame the Wynford Royals 54-49 in the Division III Oak Harbor sectional semifinal Friday night.
Wynford went into the half holding on to a 31-25 lead, but Bucyrus caught up and pulled away in the second half with a 16-9 third period, and 13-9 fourth period.
Wynford, who finishes the season with a 12 -11 record, was led by Alex Crall’s 14 points and Braxton Tea’s 13 points.
Bucyrus, who also carries a 12-11 mark, will play Pemberville Eastwood at 6:15 p.m. Friday night at the Division III Oak Harbor sectional final.
The Galion Tigers advanced to the Division III Willard sectional final Tuesday night by overcoming the Port Clinton Redskins 53-45.
At one point down by as many as 11 in the third quarter the Tigers clawed and scratched their way back into the game and trailed the Redskins by three going into the fourth with a score of 40-37.
With the momentum in their favor during the fourth quarter the Galion Tigers outscored Port Clinton 16-5 to grab the victory and advance in the state tournament.
Galion’s offense was led by Coy Vantilburg’s 16 points, Jordan Valentine’s 13 points, and Colton Moore’s 11 points.
Port Clinton’s offense was led by Drew Fodor who had 17 points.
Galion will next play the Sandusky Blue Streaks at 6:15 p.m. Friday in the Division III Willard sectional finals.
