Looking to grasp the Boys Division IV District Championship in their talons and soar on to regionals the Colonel Crawford Eagles traveled to Willard to take on the Mansfield St. Peter’s Spartans Friday night.

St. Pete’s got out to the fast start taking a 17-13 lead into the second. The Spartans would expand their lead to 26-16 in the second, before the Eagles would go on an 11-0 run to close out the half with a 27-26 lead. Cam McCreary was on fire during that stretch hitting the go-ahead buzzer-beater for his 10th point of the half.

The Spartans regrouped coming out of the half as they went on a 12-3 run in the third to take a five-point lead (40-35) into the fourth quarter. St Pete’s defense would clamp down on the Eagles in the fourth quarter as the offense would score 19 points to Crawford’s 7 to close out the game 59-42.

Leading the Way for the Spartans was Tyson Kent’s 18 points, Jared Jakubik would add 12 points, Mason Campbell would contribute 11 points, and Elijah Cobb added another 10 points for the Spartans.

With the win Mansfield St. Peter’s will play North Baltimore in the regionals semi-final at 6:15 p.m. on March 14 in Bowling Green.

Colonel Crawford was led by McCreary’s 19 points.

Colonel Crawford closes out the season with an overall record of 18-7.
