MANSFIELD (Crawford County Now) — Area teams competed in the 93rd Mansfield Mehock Relays on Saturday with several Crawford, Seneca and Wyandot county athletes taking first places and others recording personal records.
Eighteen boys teams and 15 girls squads competed in the prestigious event. Lexington won the boys division with Ashland second.
Shelby edged Ashland for the girls team title, with Colonel Crawford getting sixth place and Galion seventh.
BOYS PLACERS
- Seneca East’s Owen Gahring was first in the 800 meters in 1:59.20.
- Bucyrus’ Karter Boggs also took first in the 1600 meters in 4:31.70. He finished fourth in the 3200 meters in 10:08.27.
- Adam Scott of Colonel Crawford placed third in 4:41.30 and teammate Shawn Auck was fourth in 4:43.27. Auck finished fifth in the 3200 in 10:11.28
- The Redmen’s Anderson (AJ) Griffin took sixth in 4:52.02.
- Evan Schiefer of Seneca East captured top honors in the 3200 meters in 9:51.
- Colonel Crawford managed a fifth-place finish in the 4X100 relay, clocking 45.18. Bucyrus was sixth in 45.42.
- Seneca East was runner-up in the 4X400 relay in 3:34.46, as well as in the 4X800 in 8:11.73.
- Mohawk placed fourth in the 4X800, hitting the tape in 8:45.97.
- Luke Christman of Colonel Crawford picked up first in the discus throw with a toss of 151-feet, 10 inches.
- Ivan Pirnstill of Bucyrus took second in the pole vault at 12 feet, 6 inches.
GIRLS PLACERS
- Mira Holt of Colonel Crawford won the 400 meters in 1:00.87. She also took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.94, a personal record.
- Lady Eagles teammate Gabby Roston also achieved a PR in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking a 50.39 and third place.
- Roston won the pole vault with a 10-foot, 6 inches effort.
- Another CC runner, Olivia Hardy, notched third place in the 800 meters going 2:28.95, also a PR.
- Makenzie Halbisen took sixth in the 800 meters in 2:41.88.
- Alayna Griffith of Galion took sixth in the 1600 meters, also recording a PR of 6:01.64.
- Teammate Makayla Halbisen was second in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:12.29.
- The Lady Tigers ran a 10:44.43, which was good for third in the 4X800 meter relay.
- In the high jump Galion’s Kalynne Butterfield went 4-feet,6 inches for fourth place.
