BUCYRUS — The Sam Sabback Tennis Invitational is scheduled for Saturday, September 11 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Bucyrus Community Courts located on Redman Way behind the Bucyrus Secondary Building.
Eight schools will be competing for individual medals in singles and doubles as well as the coveted Sam Sabback team trophy for the school scoring the most points.
Admission is free and the public is welcome.
This year’s participants are Bucyrus, Clear Fork, Galion, Ontario, Pleasant, River Valley, Shelby (Defending Champions), and Upper Sandusky.
The Invitational is in honor of the late Sam Sabback, a 1949 Bucyrus High School graduate, who gave free tennis lessons to hundreds of local kids and adults at Aumiller Park and was inducted into the Bucyrus High School Hall of Fame and the Lakewood Racquet Club Hall of Fame.
The Invitational is sponsored by the Bucyrus Athletic Department and Bucyrus Tennis program.
