OLD FORT — Colonel Crawford took on Willard in the girls’ Division III sectional tournament in the early game Saturday night.

The Lady Eagles rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat the Flashes, 38-36 and advance to the sectional final on Monday.

One of the reasons Colonel Crawford (10-13) moved on was Kaylyn Risner. Not only did the senior lead her team to victory scoring 15 points, but she also scored her 1000th career point in the process.

Risner entered the contest with 369 points this year alone. She is now just 16 points from 400 for this year.

The Eagles, seeded No. 7, overcame a 21-13 halftime deficit with a 12-4 advantage in the third quarter.

For No. 10 seed Willard (6-17), Grace Rothhaar had 14 points, but only four came after intermission.

Colonel Crawford then edged the Flashes, 13-11, in the fourth quarter to come away with the two-point victory.

In the nightcap, No. 5 seeded Huron (16-5) raced out to a 37-7 halftime lead then cruised to a 55-21 win over No. 13 seed Bucyrus (4-19).

Emma Tyrrell led the Lady Redmen with 10 points and nine rebounds. Seniors Claire Schifer, Karmyn Blizzard, and Kelsie Grady played their last game for Bucyrus.

Jessica Holsapple had 14 points to lead the Tigers and Mia Hurst added 12.

Huron will meet Colonel Crawford in the sectional final on Monday at 7:30 p.m. back at Old Fort for the lower bracket championship. No. 1 seed Margaretta will take on No. 9 Carey in the 5:30 p.m. game for the upper bracket title.
