Below are recent results from local swim meets submitted by the coaches.

Galion at D-II Public School Invitational: Jan. 9

The Lady Tigers placed 5th out of 12 teams.  The Tiger Men’s team finished 2nd out of 9 teams.

The men’s team won eight of the 11 events. The boy’s medley relay team placed 1st with a time of 1:51.87 with the following swimmers:  Eli Skaggs, Luke Eisnaugle, Sam Rigdon, and Clay Karnes. The Galion B team finished 8th with the following swimmers:  Landon Rose, Gideon Johnson, Lucas Conner, and Weston Rose. Landon Rose won the 200 yard freestyle in a season best time of 2:05.48. Weston Rose was 6th. Sam Rigdon won the 200 IM with a season best time of 2:;17.81. Eli Skaggs won the 50 yard freestyle with a season best time of 22.45. Conner Lucas was 4th with a season best time of 25.21. Clay Karnes won the 100 yard butterfly in 1:01.35. Eli Skaggs( 49.92) and Sam Rigdon (53.81) finished 1-2 in the 100 yard freestyle. Luke Eisenaugle placed 7th. In the 500 yard freestyle event, Clay Karnes (5:39.75) and Conner Lucas (5:40.20) finished 1 -2. Conner Lucas swam his season best time. The 200 freestyle relay placed first with a season best of 1:36.97 with the following swimmers:  Eli Skaggs, Landon Rose, Conner Lucas, and Sam Rigdon. Luke Eisnaugle was 3rd the 100 yard backstroke and Landon Rose was 4th. The boy’s 400 yard relay finished 5th with the following swimmers: Clay Karnes, Gideon Johnson, Weston Rose, and Luke Eisnaugle.

The Lady Tigers finished 4th in the 200 Medley Relay with the following swimmers: Bri Wallis, Sari Conner, Allison DeNero, Elise Barnhart. Allison DeNero was 2nd in the 200 yard IM while Sari Conner was 6th. Bri Wallis was 4th in the 50 freestyle. Allison DeNero was 4th in the 100 yard butterfly. Sari Conner finished 5th in the 100 yard freestyle. Bri Wallis won the 500 freestyle with a season best time of 6:08.63. The Galion Ladies won the 200 yard freestyle relay with a season best time of 1:53.45. The swimmers were Bri Wallis, Elise Barnhart, Sari Conner, and Allison DeNero.

“I was pleased with how well the swimmers placed in this meet.  We had a many best times of the season. This is a good indication for the Championships coming up at the end of the month,” said coach Ted Temple.

Colonel Crawford at Oak Harbor: Jan. 9

The girls team placed 2nd out of 12 and the boys team 4th out of 12 teams.

New school records were Jake Johnson in the 100 breaststroke and Chloe Grove in the 500 freestyle.

Kennedy Speck moved into 6th place on the Top Ten 100 breaststroke list.

“This meet was great competition for the team. We will be swimming most of these teams at the District meet soon and it helps us prepare for the big meets to come,” said coach Mike Holtzapfel.

Colonel Crawford competed against Findlay, Wauseon, Lima Shawnee, Notre Dame Academy, Oak Harbor, Calvert, Tiffin Columbian, Huron, Bryan, and Fremont St., Port Clinton, Wapakoneta, Fostoria, and Joseph Central Catholic.

Galion at Bucyrus: Jan. 6

The Galion swim team traveled to Bucyrus, Wednesday, January 6, 2016.  Both the men’s and women’s teams came home victorious.

The Lady Tigers were led by first place finishes by Allison DeNero, Bri Wallis, and Sari Conner. Allison won the 200 IM and 100 yard butterfly events. Bri Wallis won the 50 and 500 freestyle events. Sari Conner won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Ashleigh Wright had 2nd place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 100 yard backstroke. Alexis Link was 2nd in the 500 freestyle. The Lady Tigers won all of the relay events.

The Men’s Tiger team had first place finishes by Eli Skaggs, Luke Eisnaugle, Clay Karnes, and Landon Rose. Eli swam to wins in the 50 and 100 yard freestyles. Eli is undefeated in dual meet action this season. Luke Eisnaugle had wins in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Clay Karnes won the 100 fly and 500 yard freestyle events. Landon Rose won the 200 yard free and the 100 yard backstroke. Sam Rigdon had 2nd place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle events and Weston Rose placed 2nd in the 200 yard free and 100 yard backstroke. Lucas Conner was 2nd in the 500 yard freestyle and Gideon Johnson was 2nd in the 100 yard breaststroke. The Tiger Men’s team won all of the relay events.

The Galion Lady Tigers are 2-5 while the Men’s Tiger team is 5-2 this season.
