The Bucyrus baseball team received an outstanding pitching performance. It just wasn’t quite enough to get the Redmen past the Upper Sandusky Rams’ whose hurler Jason Holly was just as good.
Both teams pushed across a single run during their turns at the plate in the second inning. The difference on the scoreboard came in the fourth where the Rams made the most of four hits in the frame to score three runs for the final of 4-1.
Keaton Cunningham had a of pair of RBI doubles to lead the Upper Sandusky offense and it was certainly enough for Holly. Holly struck out 12 in six-and-two-thirds innings of work and walked just one. At one point he fanned seven consecutive Bucyrus batters.
Bucyrus starter Gavin Lewis was every bit as effective with 11 strikeouts and three walks in six-and-one-third innings.
Ryan Evans collected three base hits for the Redmen and Mason Kent drove in the lone Bucyrus run with a base hit.
Upper Sandusky improves to 7-3 in the N10 and 9-9 overall. Bucyrus is now 2-7 and 7-10.
