The 51st Bill Rahm Invitational continued this past Saturday at Suburban Lanes.

On lanes 1&2 in the winners’ bracket, Jack Book with games of 256-203-208 and 203 for a 870 total sent Skip Heimlich to the losers bracket. Skip had games of 215-173-200 and 245 for an 833 total. Butch Pangallo bowled games of 255-253-175 and 238 for a 921 series, needing to double in the tenth for the win edged Rick McWaters by 9 pins. Rick rolled games of 193-254-200 and 245 for a 912 series.

In the losers’ bracket, 2 more bowlers were eliminated, cutting the field to 6. Shawn Ridgeway knocked off Joel Butt with games of 275-204-199 and 213 for an 891 series. Joel rolled games of 224-235-217 and 183 for a total of 859. In the other losers bracket match Keith Hildreth eliminated Mike Flinchbaugh with games of 212-246-202 and 245 for the winning total of 905. Mike had games of 249-188-209 and 181 in a losing effort.

After a 30-minute break, two more bowlers were sent packing cutting the field to the final 4 bowlers. Keith Hildreth eliminated rookie Rick McWaters with games of 246-217-227 and 245 for the high series of the day with a fine 935 total. Rick bowled games of 220-183-268 and 215 for a total of 886.

In the final match of the day, Shawn Ridgeway held off Skip Heimlich to advance. Skip needed to strike out in the 10th for a 1 pin win, but left the 4-7 on the first ball to finish in a tie for 5th. Rick and Skip will each receive $100 for their efforts. Shawn fired games of 247-186-243 and 213 for a total of 889. Skip shot games of 214-217-225 and 211 for an 867 total.

Everyone returned Sunday for a double shift on Sunday, reducing the field to 2 bowlers for the finals next Saturday.

The Sunday session kicked off at 1P.M. with 2 matches. One in the winners bracket and 1 in the losers bracket.

In the winners bracket finals, Jack Book bowled games of 214-279-279 and 246 for a 1018 to defeat Butch Pangallo who had games of 196-247-203-and 159 for an 805. Jack advances to the finals. Butch went to the losers bracket to face the winner of the Hildreth-Ridgeway match.

In the losers bracket semi-finals, Shawn Ridgeway won out over Keith Hildreth to advance to the finals of the losers bracket with a game of 299, leaving a 10 pin on his 12th ball. He followed with games of 227-245-and 190 for a 961 series. Keith rolled games of 244-211-204-and 237 for a total of 896 . Keith finished 4th and collected a check of $150.

After a short break, bowling resumed with the finals of the losers bracket. Butch Pangallo outscored Shawn Ridgeway with games of 222-268-241 and 279 for a fine 1010 series. Shawn had games of 212-222-279-258 for a 971 series. Shawn picked up a check for $250 for his 3rd place finish.

The finals will be this Saturday Feb. 25th at 1 P.M. Undefeated Jack Book will tangle with Butch Pangallo in a repeat of the winners bracket finals. Everyone is welcome to come out to Suburban and see what will likely be another fitting ending to another great tournament.
