The Wynford Royals season came to an end in the second round of the Division IV football playoffs at the hand of the Ayersville Pilots Friday night 30-6.
The Royals spotted the Pilots 14 points in the first half, but pulled the game within 8 on a Zach Hoffman to Robbie Miller connection. Prior to crossing the goal line, Miller fumbled. Fate fell to the Royals side on the play as teammate Blake Williamson jumped onto the ball in the end zone for a Royals touchdown.
The Pilots squashed any chance of a Royal comeback scoring 16 unanswered points for the final of 30-6.
Hoffman led the Royals’ offense with 137 yards on 27 carries on the ground and 96 yards through the air on 8 of 21 passing.
The Pilots were led by Kasey Williams on the ground amassing 217 yards on 23 carries for a score.
The Wynford Royals finish their season with an 11-1 record.
Ayersville remain undefeated at 12-0 and continue on in the playoffs.
