Bucyrus Lions Club finished their season Thursday with an overall record of 15-2, after falling to Northmor Adena Corporation in a 6-inning nail-biter, 2-1!

The teams had tied at 13-1 in the regular season and battled through the tournament to the championship game.

Lions scored 1 in the first inning and held the lead through 3 innings, when Northmor put 2 across the plate in the fourth. Lions had a runner at third with 2 outs in the 6th but fell short.

In the top of the 6th, with 2 outs, Grace Clarkson laid down a gutsy two strike beautiful bunt, beating out the throw. Grace then stole second and third. Elli Wolfe put the ball in play, but Northmor secured the out for the win.

It was a good old fashion pitchers’ duel! Both pitchers threw stellar games! For the Lions, Callie Ziemba pitched 5 complete innings, striking out 14, walking 1 and allowing 2 hits! For Northmor, Maleah pitched 6 complete innings, striking out 15, walking none and allowing 3 hits!

At the plate, Ni’Cia Floyd, led Lions with a double and a single!! Maci Messerschmidt ripped a triple!

Thanks to the girls, the parents and families, the umpires, our community, and Bucyrus Little League for another memorable season of softball.
