CRESTLINE — A local school has made its desire to enter the Northern 10 Athletic Conference known.
During Monday evening’s Crestline Board of Education meeting, board members voted to apply to once again enter the N10.
According to N10 Commissioner Mike Reinhart, Crestline joins Willard City Schools as two schools who have officially inquired about joining the league.
The inquiry comes on the heels of the Ridgedale Board of Education voting in a 3-2 decision to leave the N10 and join the Northwest Central Conference.
Despite the inquiries, Reinhart said Ridgedale has not officially left the conference. The NWCC meets Nov. 11 for its regular November meeting and the N10 has its regular meeting Nov 13.
Reinhart said no consideration to replace a school may be made until that school officially leaves the conference.
He said no timeline is established regarding the conference’s membership.
The decision for Crestline comes at the end of a football season where the Bulldogs experimented with competing as a non-championship-eligible team in the Blanchard Valley Conference.
Crestline was a charter member of the Northern 10 in 2014, but joined the Mid-Buckeye Conference in 2015 and since competed independently in football. Before the N10, Crestline played many of the same schools as a member in the North Central Conference.
Crestline Superintendent Matt Henderson said he believes the N10 is the best home for Crestline.
“We have inquired about membership with another area conference,” Henderson said. “But our top priority would be to join the N10.”
The decision-making process on conference membership is determined by a vote of the conference-member superintendents.
