Bucyrus and Mohawk enjoyed their rivalry enough Friday night that they decided to play a little extra. Mohawk won the contest 53-51 in overtime.
Bucyrus built an 11 point lead in the first half, and carried a 10 point lead in the third period. Mohawk, however, scratched and clawed their way back and took their first lead of the game with 5:37 to go in regulation.
The Lady Redmen had three players score in double digits with Kelci Simms leading all scorers for the game with 20 points. Shaina Orewiler and Gabby Sieber each contributed 11 points.
Mohawk also featured three scorers. Ally Weinandy led all Lady Warriors with 19 points, Chelsey Trusty added 16 points, and Bailee Daughenbaugh 10.
With the win Mohawk improves to 6-9 overall with a 5-6 record in the N10.
Bucyrus slips to a 5-7 overall record and 4-5 in the N10 with the loss.
In the JV game Mohawk downed Bucyrus 42-25.
In other action around the county the Buckeye Central Buckettes was defeated at home by the Upper Sandusky Lady Rams 56-35, he Colonel Crawford Lady Eagles defeated Seneca East Lady Tigers 57-56, The Carey Lady Blue Devils beat the Wynford Lady Royals 57-23, and the Galion Tigers defeated Johnathan Alder 62-41.
