Voters see the Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys as the Year of the Ram once again. Upper Sandusky garnered all eight first-place votes and outpaced second-place Colonel Crawford by 45 total points.
Mohawk and Carey are seen as being in a dogfight for third with the Warriors edging the Blue Devils 245-240 in points.
Seneca East, Wynford, Bucyrus, Buckeye Central and Ridgedale round out the boys’ side.
For the girls, Buckeye Central received seven of eight first-place votes and 345 points despite the graduation of all-everything Jenna Karl and the departure of veteran coach Greg Moore.
Seneca East landed the second spot with 310 points. The Tigers return a good mix of veterans and youth and will challenge the Buckettes for the top spot.
Most of the rest were either hit hard by graduation or are still very young. Upper Sandusky slipped past Colonel Crawford for third place, 280-275. Fifth went to Carey followed by Wynford, Mohawk, Bucyrus and Ridgedale.
In the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference, Pleasant and Clear Fork will battle it out at the top, according to the prognosticators, followed by Ontario and Galion. Buckeye Valley, North Union, River Valley and Marion Harding round out the boys.
On the girls’ side, River Valley received four of the five first-place votes and 185 points to lay claim to first place. Buckeye Valley was second with 170 and North union, which got the other first-place nod, came in at 155. Pleasant, Ontario, Marion Harding, Clear Fork and Galion finished up the MOAC girls.
In the Mid-Buckeye Conference, Mansfield St. Peter’s edged Lucas for the top spot with three first-place votes and 140 points. Lucas was a close second with the other two first-place votes and 130 points. Crestline was third with 80, followed by Loudonville, Kidron Central Christian and Mansfield Christian.
The girls’ version of the MBC was somewhat different. Loudonville received all four first-place votes and 120 points, but Lucas was a solid second with 100 points. Kidron Central Christian was third, Crestline and St. Peter’s tied for fourth and Mansfield Christian was sixth.
Other leagues voted on at the meeting were the Fireland Conference, the Ohio Cardinal Conference and the Sandusky Bay Conference (Bay, Lake and River divisions). Results for all conferences are listed below. First-place votes are in parentheses.
