Brittany Parsell is heading to the state track meet next week at The Ohio State University. Parsell qualified in three events.
She finished 2nd in the 200 and broke her school record by almost a half of a second with a time of 25.57 seconds. She also finished 2nd in the 100 and 3rd in the Long Jump.
Parsell will run the 100 prelims around 2:00 PM on Friday and the 200 prelims around 3:40 PM on Friday. She will Long Jump at 9:00 AM on Saturday. If Parsell makes it to the finals in the 100, she compete in that race around 1:00 PM. Should Parsell also make it to the finals in the 200, she would run that around 3:00 PM.
Other local track stars competing at the state track meet include: the Galion boys 4×100 team of sophomore Jacob Fryer, sophomore Drake Barnett, sophomore Khnennter Hughes, and senior Alex Armistad; the Galion girls 4×100 team of senior Laura McElligott, junior Michaela Slone, sophomore Sydney Hunt, and junior Clair Erlsten; and the Colonel Crawford boys 4×200 team of sophomore Owen Adams, junior Brett Bakies, junior Dylan Gulley, and junior Dalton Scott.
In individual events, the following local athletes will be competing: Galion’s Armistad (long jump), Wynford’s Cole Fortner (100), Colonel Crawford’s Clay Martin (1600), Colonel Crawford’s Chelsey Webster (100, 200, and 400), Wynford’s Ellie Richmond (1600), Wynford’s Samantha Lambert (discus), Wynford’s Amber Gottfried (high jump), Wynford’s Callie Ruffener (pole vault), and Colonel Crawford’s Shelby Gledhill (shot put).
