ONTARIO — The Bucyrus 12U Softball Little League All-Stars competed in a tournament in Ontario over the past weekend.
Each of the 10 teams involved played three games, and subsequently were seeded into a tournament bracket.
Bucyrus defeated Medina, 11-5, on Friday, then topped Mansfield Madison, 11-2, on Saturday. The locals completed pool play on Saturday with a come-from-behind 8-6 victory over Utica.
With its 3-0 record in pool play, Bucyrus was awarded the No. 2 seed in the tournament and took the accompanying bye into the second round of the lower bracket. Martins Ferry was the No. 1 seed and received a bye in the upper bracket.
No. 7 seed Wooster defeated Madison in the first round of the tournament, earning the right to play Bucyrus in the second round. Wooster knocked Bucyrus from the tourney, 12-6. Martins Ferry also lost its first tournament game.
Wooster advanced to the championship game but was defeated by Utica for the title.
