BUCYRUS — Mike Lear took the long way, but still reached his destination.
Lear came out of the losers’ bracket to defeat Dave Shock to win the 57th Bill Rahm Invitational bowling tournament at Suburban Lanes Saturday.
Lear won the initial four-game series, 866-798, giving Shock his first loss of the tournament. That forced a fifth game roll-off to determine the champion, which Lear won, 263-201.
Shock was making his sixth appearance in the Rahm. He finished third each of the past two years.
This was also the sixth Rahm for Lear, and his second championship. He won in 2020 and was runner-up in 2021 and 2022.
Shock won the first game of the four-game series, 225-208. However, Lear came back to win the next three, 215-194, 236-200, and 207-179, to set the stage for the one-game roll-off.
