BUCYRUS — The finals are set for the 58th Bill Rahm Bowling Tournament.
Mike Lear and Brock Lykens will face off for the title on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Suburban Lanes.
The original 16-bowler field had been cut in half with the first weekend of action, the remaining eight battled this Saturday and Sunday to prune the field to the final two.
In the first session on Saturday, Lear defeated Nathan Monk in the winners’ bracket, 983-874. Mitch Long dropped Shawn Ridgeway, 989-767.
In the losers’ bracket, Joe Powers got by Joel Butt, 846-824, and Lykens beat Brayden Bruner, 999-839. Butt and Bruner were eliminated.
In the losers’ bracket second session, Lykens slipped past Monk, 890-863 and Ridgeway downed Powers, 922-860. Monk and Powers dropped from the field, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.
On Sunday, in the winners’ bracket Lear bumped Long to the losers’ bracket, 987-903. Lear became the winner of the winners’ bracket.
Lykens then defeated Ridgeway in the losers’ bracket, 908-849 and edged Long, 914-907, making Lykens the losers’ bracket winner. Long finished the tournament in third place and Ridgeway was fourth.
If Lykens wins the four-game match out of the losers’ bracket, there will be a one-game roll off between him and Lear for the title.
