The Galion Lady Tigers basketball team claimed their second straight win and they did it at home. Galion defeated Highland on Tuesday, 45-41.
At the end of the first quarter Galion led 12-7 and they would maintain that stable lead throughout on their way to their first conference win of the season by a final of 45-41.
Jamie Ehrman and Gabby Kaple were each in double figures for the Lady Tigers. Kaple had 10 points and six rebounds, while Jamie Erhman lead the way with 15 points, seven boards and three steals.
The Lady Tigers are now 3-9 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. They play next at Marion Harding next Thursday.
WQEL BROADCAST: Highland vs Galion
A strong third period by the Ashland Crestview Lady Cougars Tuesday night helped them push past a Lady Royals’ team led by Gretchen Wilson.
The Lady Royals controlled the court in the first half, outscoring their opponent 30-23. The Lady Cougars battled back in the third period by putting up 22 points and keeping Wynford to only nine. Things evened out a bit in the fourth, but not enough for the Lady Royals to overcome a five-point deficit. Crestview won by a score of 60-55.
Harris dominated for Wynford with 31 points while Gabby Grove and Olivia Grove contributed 11 points each. The Lady Cougars were led in scoring by Sydney McLanglin, who put up 23 points. Kennedy Hickey followed up with 17.
The Lady Royals are now 3-7 (2-3 N10) on the season. They will host N10 rival Seneca East (4-4, 3-3 N10) on Jan. 5.
