The Wynford Lady Royals defeated the Lady Lex basketball team 44-30 on the road in Lexington Thursday night.
Outpacing Lady Lex by two in the first half the Lady Royals went into the half clinging to a 17-15 lead. The Lady Royals began to pull away in the third outscoring Lady Lex 11-6 for a 28-21 lead. Once they gained a firm foothold on the lead the Lady Royals dominated in the fourth quarter outscoring Lady Lex 16-9 for the 44-30 victory.
Wynford’s Jade Stuckman and Gretchan Harris were the game’s high scorers with fifteen points apiece.
Lexington’s Olivia Harris was the high scorer for Lady Lex with 13 points.
On Tuesday the Buckeye Central Buckettes picked up a victory over the Northmor Lady Golden Knights 60-39 at Buckeye Central.
Buckeye jumped out to a 23 to 16 lead in the first, but the Lady Knights brought it within 5 at the end of the half trailing 33-28. Buckeye Central’s full court defense helped the Buckettes extend their lead in the third as they headed into the final stanza with a 44-32 lead. In the fourth the Buckettes cruised to the 60-39 finish.
Jenna Karl and Haley Green led the Buckettes as they scored a game high of 16 points each.
Karlee Patterson led the Lady Golden Knights with 13 points and Karla Carroll contributed 12 points.
Buckeye Central and Wynford will play each other on Saturday with a tip-off at 1 p.m. at Buckeye Central.
