Five Bucyrus seniors finished their regular season careers last night at home with a 61-43 win over Buckeye Central. The seniors combined to score 40 points as the Lady Redmen finished the regular season with a 17-5 record, 10-4 in the NCC.
Bucyrus senior Macey Sheerer led all scorers with 18 points, Kelci Simms scored 13 and Senior Hannah Wyeth added 11. Also playing their final games were Kristen Orewiler, Ciara Awbrey and Bree Green.
For Buckeye Central Kilee Kimmel and Brooke Karl played their final regular season games with Kimmel leading the Buckettes’ scoring with 11 points.
Buckeye Central won the JV game 38-32. Erin Baldosser led the Buckettes with 14 points. Ashton Hawkins added 9.
Following the game, Bucyrus unveiled the jersey/banner of Macey Sheerer on the thousand point wall. Macey joins Natalie Winkelfoos, Kelsey Rehm and Chelsea Hawkins as 1,000-point career scorers for the Lady Redmen. Sheerer is now the all-time leading scorer for girls and boys basketball at Bucyrus.
