The Colonel Crawford Lady Eagles left no doubt early that Thursday’s rematch with Seneca East was going to be nothing like their first game the night before. After losing 1-0 on Wednesday in Attica, Colonel Crawford hit early and often in a five-inning, 10-0 win over the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Eagles and Lady Tigers now share first place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference with matching 5-1 league records. Colonel Crawford is 7-1 overall while Seneca East is 6-2.

Colonel Crawford’s Alexus Burkhart led off the bottom of the first with a first-pitch single to left and promptly stole second and third on consecutive pitches. Sydney Studer drove Burkhart home with a single back up the middle and before the first inning was over the Lady Eagles had four runs on four hits including an RBI triple by Lydia Strause. Colonel Crawford stole seven bases in the first two innings and was seven-of-eight stealing bases.
Burkhart, Studer and Abbie Bradshaw all had two hits each and Ashton Hoepf and Caitlin Koshnick each ripped a double.
Studer ran her record in the pitcher’s circle to 7-1 with a one-hitter. She stuck out six and walked one.
Brooke Enders had the lone hit for Seneca East.
Colonel Crawford will travel to Crestline on Saturday for a doubleheader as part of Hits for the Heart, an American Cancer Society benefit. First pitch in the opener is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Other area softball scores from Thursday evening included Upper Sandusky over Buckeye Central 12-2, Mohawk defeating Bucyrus 14-7, and Ridgedale clipped Berne Union 2-1.
On the baseball diamonds Upper Sandusky upended Buckeye Central 9-1, Mohawk defeated Bucyrus 14-4 and Seneca East handled Colonel Crawford 14-4.
