The 51st Bucyrus Ladies Invitational bowling tournament kicked off Saturday afternoon at Suburban Lanes in Bucyrus.
The 16-team field was paired off into eight matches on Saturday. Patricia Horsley defeated Kay Wipert, Tacsha Ridgeway beat Michelle Sebring, Joy Steurer dropped Tricia Breighner, Carrie Spears defeated Robin Pangallo, Brittany Slagle defeated Kathy Watts, Morgan Swavel beat Heather McLaughlin, Lori Angel stopped Lisa Penwell and Paula Iler beat Judy Kuehne.
On Sunday, the winners’ bracket saw Ridgeway getting past Horsley, 722-648, Spears dropping Steurer, 735-653, Swavel beating Slagle, 682-629, and Angel defeating Iler, 773-688.
In the losers’ bracket, four bowlers were eliminated from the field. Sebring edged Wipert, 717-714, Breighner slipped past defending champion Pangallo, 740-727, Watts squeaked past McLaughlin, 682-678, and Penwell beat Kuehne, 667-649.
Wipert, Pangallo, McLaughlin and Kuehne fell from the field.
The second round of the losers’ bracket will take place Tuesday at 5 p.m. Sebring takes on Slagle, Breighner faces off with Iler, Watts bowls Horsley and Penwell rolls off with Steurer.
The four losers on Tuesday will also be eliminated, narrowing the field to eight going into the second weekend on Saturday.
