The 2019 Bucyrus Ladies Invitational bowling tournament continued over the weekend at Suburban Lanes, reducing the field to four bowlers.
On Saturday in the winners’ bracket, rookie Carrie Spears knocked 2016 champion Tacsha Ridgeway into the losers’ bracket by a 786-660 decision. In the other match, Lori Angel sent Morgan Swavel to the losers’ bracket, 606-580.
In the losers’ bracket, Brittany Slagle rolled a whopping 817 to oust Paula Iler from the tournament. Iler came in with a 655.
Joy Steurer also eliminated two-time past champion Patricia Horsley by a 686-605 count.
On Sunday, the losers’ bracket continued competition with two matches. Swavel eliminated Steurer, 665-649 and Slagle stayed hot, dropping Ridgeway from the field, 763-560.
Matches resume Tuesday with the quarterfinals. Spears will face Angel in the winners’ bracket while Slagle and Swavel will have a rematch in the losers’ bracket.
On Wednesday, the winner of the losers’ bracket will take on the loser of the winners’ bracket. That winner will face the winners’ bracket survivor for the championship on Saturday.
Both Tuesday’s quarterfinals and Wednesday’s semifinal will begin at 5 p.m.
