The 2013-2014 High School Girls Basketball season tipped off with three county schools participating in games under the gymnasium lights of Friday night.
In the Bucyrus Tip-Off Classic the Bucyrus Lady Redmen defeated the Marion Harding Presidents 70-36.
Macey Sheerer led Bucyrus with 22 points. Prior to halftime Sheerer scored her 1,000 career point. Hannah Wyeth scored 14, and Megan Flaherty scored 10 for the Lady Redmen.
Olivia Davis led Marion Harding’s players with 15 points; Taylor McIntire added 10 points for the Presidents.
The opening game of the Tip-Off Classic saw the Norwalk Truckers beat the Mansfield Senior Lady Tygers in Dramatic fashion. When Norwalk hit their final basket as time expired clinching the win 44-43.
Bucyrus will play Norwalk on Saturday at 6:45 PM in the championship game of the Tip-Off Classic. The game will air on Q 92, as well as wqel.com.
The Seneca East Tigers came roaring out of the gate at home against the Buckeye Central Buckettes leading B.C. 25-5 at the end of the first quarter. Buckeye Central pulled it to within 8 at the half; trailing Seneca East 32-25. Seneca East pulled away from the Buckettes in the second half to win the game 63-49.
The Colonel Crawford Lady Eagles traveled to Marion Pleasant and were defeated by the Spartans 58-35.
